DEAN DAS, the founder of Mind-Yoga (Aust), is a western Meditation Master-Teacher, a practitioner of some 45 years. Dean Das has taught select meditation students for the past 30 years throughout Australia. Dean Das teaches only what he has personally experienced, in terms of the kundalini yoga process. He is an advocate of 'practice', not theoretical discussion. For several years, Dean Das lived with, and practiced under, the direct personal guidance of revered Indian Kundalini Meditation Master, SWAMI PRAKASHANANDA SARASWATI.
'Baba' or 'Babaji' (revered father), as he was known, lived at the top of Sapta Shringi mountain, outside the city of Nashik, Western India, for 27 years. (For biographical information on Swami Prakashananda Saraswati, go to this LINK. Further recommended reading on Swami Prakashananda is 'Agaram Bagaram Baba' by Titus Foster, and 'Storytellers, Saints, and Scoundrels' by Kirin Narayan, listed in Menu under 'Book References'.
THE SIDDHA NATH tradition of Western India, to which Dean Das belongs, is a 'living' tradition, in that the meditation 'teachings' and direct 'realizations', have been transmitted, energetically, from master to disciple, from the time of the founding fathers, 10th century yogi's, Matsyendranath and his disciple, Gorakhnath, to this very day. In like manner, the 'teachings' and 'realizations' were directly transmitted to Dean Das from his own teacher, Swami Prakashananda Saraswati. Since returning to live in Australia some years ago, Dean Das has lived in a relationship and raised a daughter. He worked as a private consultant and clinician in the areas of forensic psychology and mental health, along with academic teaching at university.
Being a family man and yogic practitioner, Dean Das is fully engaged in the world, therefore is cognizant of the necessity of maintaining a healthy and balanced mind and body, whilst living in a stressful world. He understands the importance of meditation and yoga to living such a life. He also understands the necessity for meditation and yoga to be taught in a 'western-friendly' manner, in order that its many benefits are offered to as many as possible.
In short, Dean Das established Mind-Yoga (Aust) with the express intention of introducing to those who are interested, the authentic practice skills, of kundalini yoga meditation, capable of bringing about significant and lasting personal change. The photograph below of Nivasini Devi Temple, Sapta Shringi mountain, is 'the spiritual' home of Dean Das where he resided, and the photo of Swami Prakashananda Saraswati(Babaji) is a photo of his Guru.
